Just as I was about to sit down at the computer to purchase a triathlon wetsuit, F comes home from the hospital.
“How was your day? Any gossip?” I ask.
“Hmmm…Jane was surfing down at Leadbetter yesterday and she said she saw the biggest shark she had ever seen. She thinks it was a Great White.”
“WHAT!?!? What did she do?”
“She paddled back to shore as fast as she could.”
At Leadbetter? A very popular beach where the weekly Nite Moves swim/run event takes place?
“So, let’s say I was swimming with a huge group of people, like in the Nite Moves swim. In a large group, I should be fine, right? A shark would stay away?” I ask.
“Just don’t be last in the pack. You know, don’t lag too far behind,” F says.
