I Want a Pony

But it’s not actually a pony. It’s a miniature horse. On Mother’s Day, we visited Quicksilver Ranch in Solvang. And I fell in love. Check it.

Aren’t they cute? Bigger than a breadbox but smaller than a Great Dane, miniature horses are NOT ponies. To be considered “miniature”, the animal must not exceed 34 inches in height. They are warm, affectionate and good-natured animals and are supposed to make wonderful pets for all ages. The girls and I were so taken by the miniature horses and I was pretty sure a filly or a colt could have fit in the trunk of our SUV. F was into it too. It’s the only horse small enough that he can approach without breaking into a sweat. Too bad we are not allowed pets in our current rental. Maybe we’ll have to pick up a miniature horse on the way out of town in 2 years.

  1. Yes! There is a distinction between the two…Shetland ponies are the meanest creatures to have ever been created! But mini horses…oh, so cute! 🙂 Glad you had a great day!
