Bahnsons Travel

It’s been a busy few weeks. It started with a super quick trip to Oregon, which included a job interview, a refreshing run along the Willamette River in Albany, OR, visits with Tita Malia and CindyandAl in Corvallis, and concluded with lunch with Drew and Breese at Pok Pok in Portland. (Further details about the trip will be revealed later this week.)

Our trip to Oregon was followed by a week in the mid-west. We packed up all our warmest layers (for the girls this meant their thickest sweatshirts, longest leggings and Uggs) and headed to Chicago to brave 30 degree temps and blustery winds. We spent a few days in Chicago taking in the sights, visiting the Shedd Aquarium, eating stuffed pizza and fried mozzarella sticks, riding the El, and eating at Toast, twice.  Fred and I even survived a very cold run along the lake, startled by the half-marathoners zooming past us in shorts, and amazed by the two men climbing out of Lake Michigan after their morning swim in the choppy 40 degree water.

After a few days in Chicago, we headed less than 2 hours north to Nana Joy and Lolo’s house in Fontana, WI. It was a nice change of pace and we were able to play in the woods, hang out with Nana and Lolo’s dogs, take a day trip to Madison and enjoy the quaint shops and restaurants of downtown Lake Geneva. My parents still live in the house where I grew up, so it’s always a treat for me to go home.

In short, we had a fabulous vacation.

BEAUTIFUL day but oh-so-cold.

It was hard for me to pass up the bucket of Cheese Balls for sale at Wal Mart. I love those things!
